All tire pressure gauge specs compared

Fourteen gauges from five brands, and only four publish a numeric accuracy figure; range and display type are what you can actually compare across the rest.

EvidenceManufacturer listings only — we have not measured any unit on this page

These are the pressure gauges whose manufacturer specifications we have collected but have not tested ourselves. One page, every model, so the comparison does not require opening five brand pages.

If you want the shortlist rather than the full table, the best tire pressure gauge ranking picks from the same data with recommendations; this page is the raw comparison behind it.

Every model, side by side

A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that field. We do not estimate it, and we have not tested any of these products.

Only four of the fourteen publish an accuracy figure

This is the finding that matters more than any row in the table. Of the fourteen gauges we hold specs for, four state a tolerance: two JACO dials to a recognised standard, the JACO digital to ±0.5% of full scale, and the ALL-TOP auto-stop set to ±2 PSI. The other ten, including every Slime and every Milton, publish none.

An unstated tolerance is not the same as a bad gauge. It means you cannot compare it on accuracy, and you should validate it once against a reference before you rely on it.

How to read the range column

A gauge is most accurate near the middle of its scale. A 0–160 PSI gauge used at 33 PSI is working in its bottom fifth; a 5–60 PSI gauge used at 33 PSI is working near its middle. That is why the range column sits before the accuracy column: for the ten gauges with no published tolerance, range is the only accuracy-adjacent signal there is.

Display type is a reading decision, not an accuracy one

Digital gauges resolve to 0.1 PSI and hold a reading after the chuck comes off; dials have no battery and survive a toolbox. Neither is inherently more accurate, and in this set both the most accurate published figure and the largest number of unpublished ones belong to dials.

Frequently asked

How many of these gauges publish an accuracy figure?

Four of fourteen. The rest state a range and a display type but no tolerance.

Which is the most accurate gauge in the table?

On published figures, the JACO ElitePro-X Digital at ±0.5% of full scale, with the JACO RDX-160 at ANSI B40.1 1.5% mid-scale behind it.

Are the untested gauges worse than the ones you reviewed?

Different question. We reviewed inflators, not these gauges. The measured gauge-error data comes from the inflator bench tests, not from this table.

Where these numbers come from

Every value on this page is quoted from the manufacturer’s own listing, linked below. We have not bought, used or measured any of these products, so there is no test data of ours to show. A missing field is a fact about the listing, not an omission by us.
