If you already own Ryobi ONE+ batteries, this is the most convenient inflator you can buy: digital preset, no cables, and enough runtime for a full set of tires on one 4.0Ah pack.

What it gets right

  • No cord at all — inflate anywhere the car is parked
  • Digital gauge with preset auto shut-off, accurate to within 0.5 PSI
  • Four tires from 28 to 36 PSI on a single 4.0Ah battery with charge to spare

What you accept

  • Sold as a bare tool — battery and charger cost extra if you are not already in the ONE+ system
  • Slower than a battery-clamp 12V compressor on a completely flat tire
  • Bulkier than a 12V inflator and heavier in the hand at 3.6 lb with a 4.0Ah pack

The question that decides it: do you own the battery platform?

A cordless inflator is usually sold as a bare tool, which means its real price is the tool plus a battery and a charger. If you are already in that platform, the tool is cheap and the battery is free at the point of use. If you are not, you are buying into an ecosystem to inflate tires, and a corded unit buys more airflow for the same money.

Both units we have tested are bare tools, and both reviews state that plainly, because the advertised price is not the price a first-time buyer pays.

The cold-weather caveat. A lithium pack that reads full in a warm garage can behave very differently after a night at 15°F — which is exactly when tire pressure drops and you need the tool. If an inflator lives in a vehicle through winter, either check the pack regularly or keep a corded backup.
